Mike Young (producer)

Michael "Mike" Young (born 1945 in Barry, Vale of Glamorgan), is a Welsh born, US domiciled, Emmy and BAFTA Award-winning animation producer, he is founder of two animation companies in both UK and US. Young is the current COO of MoonScoop.

Biography

Young trained as a television producer, but while working as an advertising copywriter he met partner Liz Young. After the pair married in the 1970s, his step son Richard Finn (now head of post-production at MYP), was having trouble falling asleep. Young invented stories about a teddy bear, which became SuperTed. Finn went to school to tell his friends the wonderful stories, which resulted in the SuperTed books, co-produced with TV Producer Young.

In 1981, Mike Young along with his wife Liz Young, animator Dave Edwards and producer Robin Lyons, founded Siriol Productions when the three men approached the newly formed Welsh TV channel S4C and secured a commission to produce an animated series of Superted. Due to the success of the initial series, it was re-dubbed in English and a special edition for the Welsh Office which instructed children on the "dos" and "don'ts" of road safety. The series sold well in the UK, along with the larger developed series of Fantastic Max, The Further Adventures of SuperTed and Little Dracula.

Mike Young (basketball)

Mike Young (born May 1, 1963) is an American college basketball coach and currently the head men's basketball coach at Wofford College. He was promoted to the position after spending 13 years as an assistant coach at the school.

Born in Radford, Virginia, Young played collegiately at Emory and Henry College. After completing his career, which included serving as team captain during his junior and senior seasons, Young began his coaching career as an assistant coach at his alma mater. In 1988, he left Emory and Henry to serve one year as an assistant to Oliver Purnell at Radford University.

In 1989, Young began his tenure as an assistant coach at Wofford. He would go on to spend the next 13 years at the school, helping to guide the Terriers in their transition from Division II to Division I independent status, and finally to a spot in the Southern Conference, where the Terriers compete today.

In December 2001, Wofford announced that then-head coach Richard Johnson would be promoted to athletic director, leaving Young to take control of the team starting for the 2002–03 season. His first six years were fairly uneventful, with high points of a .500 conference record in his first season, and overall records of .500 during the 2004–05 and 2007–08 seasons.

The British Channel 4 science fiction comedy-drama Misfits features a number of fictional characters. The main cast comprises five characters, while a number of additional characters support the show. The main cast originally consisted of Alisha Daniels (Antonia Thomas), Curtis Donovan (Nathan Stewart-Jarrett), Kelly Bailey (Lauren Socha), Nathan Young (Robert Sheehan), and Simon Bellamy (Iwan Rheon). After Sheenan (Nathan) left the role Rudy Wade (Joseph Gilgun) was introduced. Rheon (Simon) and Thomas (Alisha) departed their roles at the end of series 3. Seth (Matthew McNulty) is initially introduced as a guest character but later begins appearing in a recurring role. Jess (Karla Crome) and Finn (Nathan McMullen) join the cast in a main role at the beginning of series four. Supporting characters introduced have included Sally (Alex Reid), Pete (Michael Obiora), Superhoodie, Nikki (Ruth Negga), Shaun (Craig Parkinson) and Greg (Shaun Dooley).

Main cast

The initial five main characters are brought together when they are all sent to community service for various crimes. A storm occurs and the group are struck by it without any damage. They discover they each have a superpower, with the exception of Nathan, who does not find out his power until the finale of the first series. Their probation worker Tony is also affected by the storm and flies into a murderous rage. They kill Tony in self-defence. After this, the group go on to become more of a unit when further developments of how many other people who were affected by the storm comes to light. Rudy, Jess and Finn eventually join the group when they end up in community service, integrating with the group as the original members leave.
